While things are not completely back in action yet, I have gotten things where I want them on a local dev machine and uploaded an updated stage4 tarball. It has been repeatedly tested using both the manual and automatic install methods. My test install machine is a VM, so I may not have covered all bases. But as far as I can see, it should work. I have not been able to test EFI installs yet, so if you encounter an EFI issue, please let me know. I don’t have a spare EFI machine to test on, but I’ll see if I can make VirtualBox emulate one.
I need to copy my scripts to the server and get the cron job going again to automatically update the tarball every month, but for now, there is a (tested by me) working tarball on the server. Head over to the Installation page if you’re ready to give it a go.
HI!
I think Gentoo Studio sounds like a fantastic project. I have followed it for a few years now and I am starting to get ready to try it. I succeeded to have Gentoo (plain) working on one of my machines a couple times, but the last few times were frustrating, I wonder whether it has to do with me using my Core2 machines. And thats why I am asking you: do you think Gentoo Studio shold work on a Core 2 machine? One of my Core2 has 16 GB ram and another has 8. The one with 2 is unthinkable I am sure. I have also an i5 w 8GB and an i7 w 16 GB, but would not like to expose them to initial testing.
Gentoo and Gentoo Studio should both run on a Core2. However, serious audio work won’t go very well on a Core2. It’s fine for test installations, though.
I’m working on getting the install images back up and running. Hopefully this will be done in the near future.
I am very excited to stumble on this project!!! Can’t wait to get my hands dirty!
